InJourney projects hotel occupancy to rise 10 per cent during Eid holiday period
Jakarta — InJourney Hospitality’s chief executive Christine Hutabarat has projected a 10 per cent increase in hotel occupancy during the extended holiday period around Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi this month, compared with 2025 figures.
“Based on our projections, we expect a 10 per cent increase compared to 2025,” Christine said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
The proximity of the Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi celebrations, combined with work-from-anywhere policies and collective leave arrangements, is expected to bolster domestic tourism sector performance in the first quarter of the year.
“We view the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr momentum as a critical catalyst for recovery and growth in the domestic tourism sector. This is highly positive,” Christine said.
Domestic travellers continue to show strong interest in mudik (returning to hometowns) and leisure travel to spend time with family, she noted.
“Public interest in travel, whether for mudik or tourism, remains quite robust. People want to spend quality time with family at various destinations,” she explained.
This enthusiasm is evident in early bookings at InJourney-managed hotels across popular tourism cities including Bali and Yogyakarta.
“Early bookings demonstrate genuine traveller enthusiasm for taking advantage of the two-week extended break at their chosen hotels,” Christine stated.
She noted that domestic travellers are increasingly opting for short getaways to tourism cities, with many preferring to base themselves at hotels rather than undertake multiple excursions.
“The approach is simple — stay at the hotel and enjoy in-house activities. Our strategy is to create diverse activities within the hotel itself, since hotels are no longer just overnight accommodation for one or two nights. We offer programmes such as yoga, boxing and wellness activities,” Christine concluded.
