JAKARTA—PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) forecasts that the peak Eid holiday travel rush will occur on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 across 37 airports, with approximately 570,000 passengers and 4,000 flights expected.

InJourney Airports Chief Executive Officer Mohammad R. Pahlevi stated that Indonesia’s two busiest airports—Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali—are projected to serve 187,000 and 71,000 passengers respectively during peak travel times.

“All airports are prepared to anticipate increased traffic, both operationally and in terms of service,” Pahlevi said in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

Key focus areas in departure zones include security checkpoints (SCP), check-in services and boarding lounges. “The number of check-in counters is guaranteed to be adequate, and several airports in cooperation with airlines are also providing self-service check-in machines to expedite the departure process,” he explained. “Boarding lounge arrangements have also been planned carefully to ensure smooth passenger flow,” Pahlevi added.

At security checkpoints, screening procedures remain rigorous and passengers are advised to anticipate queue times, particularly to ensure no dangerous goods are carried onto aircraft. In addition, flight slot time scheduling has been carefully managed to avoid congestion from simultaneous aircraft movements.

“Close coordination with airlines and all stakeholders is being conducted to maintain operational efficiency, including baggage handling to ensure continued compliance with service standards,” Pahlevi explained.

All airports operated by InJourney Airports will function 24 hours daily, adjusting for airline requirements for additional flights, delayed departures, or other flight needs.

Through these preparations, InJourney Airports hopes that peak holiday travel will proceed smoothly across all airports. Passengers are advised to arrive at airports at least three hours before departure. “During this Eid holiday peak travel season, InJourney Airports airports are also preparing customer experience activation programmes to provide entertainment for air passengers,” he emphasised.
