SLEMAN – PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), known as InJourney, has announced operational preparedness across the 37 airports it manages during the 2026 Lebaran mudik (homecoming) period. Five of these airports are expected to handle particularly heavy traffic: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Juanda International Airport, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, and Kualanamu International Airport.

Yudhistira Setiawan, Corporate Secretary and Senior Vice President of InJourney, has projected total passenger movements across all airports to reach 9 million people, representing approximately a 2 per cent increase compared to the 2025 Lebaran period.

“For this Lebaran period, we anticipate an increase of around 9 million passengers across InJourney airports, which represents approximately a 2 per cent rise compared to last year. This presents a challenge for us, as it is our responsibility to ensure that airports are fully prepared in terms of infrastructure, facilities, and services,” Setiawan said during a Lebaran press conference held at Prambanan Temple on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

In response to this passenger surge, InJourney is preparing various facilities, infrastructure, and service posts across the 37 airports it manages, with special emphasis on the five primary airports with the highest traffic volumes. These five airports will operate round-the-clock throughout the holiday period, supported by additional personnel to maintain service quality and ensure smooth passenger flow.

“We will operate 24 hours at these five airports. This demonstrates InJourney’s commitment to ensuring that the mudik or holiday period runs smoothly, safely, and comfortably. However, we must also remember that InJourney manages tourism destinations, hospitality services, and retail operations,” Setiawan added.

InJourney is also preparing services in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Setiawan has predicted that hotel occupancy rates will increase to 63 per cent, representing a 10 per cent rise compared to the previous year.

Tourist destinations managed by InJourney are also expected to experience significant visitor increases. Prambanan Temple is projected to receive approximately 129,000 visitors, Borobudur Temple around 83,000 visitors, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park) around 137,000 visitors, and heritage sites such as Ratu Boko approximately 7,000 visitors during the Lebaran holiday period.

“This represents both an opportunity and hope for us that mudik travellers will visit tourism destinations managed by InJourney. Especially during the second day of Lebaran, which is traditionally known for holiday excursions, tourist attractions are typically fully occupied. We hope that destinations managed by InJourney will experience considerable increases in visitor numbers,” Setiawan said.

Furthermore, InJourney has projected that mudik movements will begin to become evident from Friday, 13 March 2026. The peak of the homecoming exodus is estimated to occur on 17–18 March 2026, whilst the peak return exodus is expected to take place on 28–30 March 2026.

“InJourney is attempting to add meaning to this year’s Lebaran mudik or holiday period. So that mudik travellers or tourists who will be travelling during the Lebaran holiday can experience an unforgettable and meaningful journey provided by InJourney Group,” Setiawan concluded.
