Tangerang (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Branch in Tangerang, Banten, has assured the smooth operation of baggage and trolley services for airline passengers during the surge in return traffic for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/Lebaran 2026.

General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, stated in Tangerang on Wednesday that during this return flow, the focus is on the arrival areas to ensure passengers are served optimally despite the passenger surge.

Among the preparations is the readiness of baggage handling services, smooth transportation, and the availability of trolleys at several terminals at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“We from the airport side are ensuring that the arrival time of baggage in the baggage area is not long. Our standard is 15 minutes for the first baggage and 30 minutes for the last baggage,” he said.

Furthermore, Heru stated that the availability of passenger trolleys is also a primary focus to complement optimal services for the considerable baggage needs during the Lebaran transport period. “Therefore, we ensure that the availability of trolleys is sufficient,” he added.

In addition, the management of Soekarno-Hatta Airport is also ensuring comfort and adequate transportation availability for passenger mobility from the arrival terminals, such as airport trains, buses, and taxis.

In this regard, they have opened a 24-hour shuttle bus service for passengers as an anticipation of the surge during the Lebaran return flow transport period.

“Yes. For the operational transport modes for vehicles, such as shuttle buses and so on, they are prepared 24 hours,” he said.

He explained that the land transport mode service specifically for passenger shuttles at the airport terminals is focused on supporting the movements of returnees during the Lebaran return flow in the arrival area of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Additionally, the Skytrain or airport train unit is also prepared for 23 hours of operation to assist airline users in accessing between terminals.

“Meanwhile, the Skytrain operates until 11 PM or 23.00 WIB. Because the Skytrain requires five hours for maintenance and checks to be ready for operation the next morning,” he revealed.

Heru stated that during the significant traffic surge, airport operations continue to run well through strengthened cross-agency coordination and optimisation of services across all terminal areas.

“For personnel readiness, we never reduce the number of staff. In fact, during this transport period, we continue to prepare an adequate number of personnel. So we maintain the same number of personnel as during the outbound flow,” he said.

In this context, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) predicts that the Lebaran return flow at the airport will occur in two peak waves, namely on Tuesday (24/3) and Saturday (28/3).

“So, similar to the outbound flow earlier, there are two passenger surges. The outbound flow occurred on 14 March (prediction 177,000, actual 184,000) and 18 March (H-2) with an actual of 190,000 passengers,” he said.

He mentioned that for the second peak wave of the return flow predicted on 28 March 2026, there will be passenger movements estimated at around 198,387 passengers and 1,221 flights in one day.

“Today, 14 March 2026, we plan to serve 190,000 passengers, but the peak is still predicted on Saturday, 28 March 2026,” he said.

According to him, the current flight and passenger numbers from the operational plan exceed predictions. Since the beginning of the trend or aircraft movement traffic, it has reached 1,184 flights with 190,000 passengers.

“We are still looking at the operational plan we compiled from airline data, namely on 28 March or Saturday. We predict we will serve around 198,000 passengers,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the actual service up to the period of Saturday (14/3) H-7 to Tuesday (24/3) H+2 for the 2026 Lebaran outbound and return at Soekarno-Hatta Airport reached 1,983,067 people.

“Based on our records from the initial outbound period from 14 to 24 March 2026, we have served 1,983,067 passengers,” he said.

Cumulatively, they have served 1.9 million passengers with 13,184 aircraft movements, or a growth of 5.6% compared to the same period in 2019 as a normal recovery period.

“Up to H+2, we have served 13,184 flights, growing by 4.7% compared to 2025 and 5.6% compared to 2019,” he explained.
