InJourney CEO: MotoGP Event Accelerates Mandalika Tourism Development
The President Director of InJourney, Maya Watrom, stated that the 2026 MotoGP Indonesia, held at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, is accelerating tourism development in the Mandalika Area and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.
“This MotoGP Indonesia event is accelerating tourism development in The Mandalika,” said Maya while attending a coordination meeting for the technical preparations of the MotoGP Indonesia event in Mandalika, Central Lombok, NTB, on Thursday.
She noted that through MotoGP and other racing events held at the Mandalika Circuit, visits from both international and local tourists to Lombok have experienced an extraordinary increase.
“The number of foreign tourists arriving in Lombok is very high, which brings significant foreign exchange to NTB and Indonesia,” she said.
She added that the event can also strengthen Indonesia’s national branding globally, leading to the current slogan, “Mandalika Goes Global.”
“Mandalika is expected to serve as a way to strengthen the promotion of Indonesian tourism,” she said.
She mentioned that the 2026 MotoGP event, scheduled for 9-11 October 2026, is particularly special for the Indonesian people as two local riders will compete in the international motorcycle racing event.
“Indonesia’s pride, Mario Aji in Moto2 and Veda Ega Pratama in Moto3, will perform at the Mandalika Circuit,” she said.
The Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, stated that the provincial government, alongside InJourney, is ready to host the 2026 MotoGP Indonesia.
“Various improvements have been made regarding connectivity, security, facilities, and the involvement of local communities in the implementation of MotoGP,” he said.
He noted that the MotoGP Indonesia event in Mandalika has been held five times, ensuring that preparations are carried out effectively so that the event runs smoothly.
“This event must be able to provide an impact on the local community. The Mandalika area should not be viewed as an exclusive entity belonging to the central government, but rather as belonging to the people of NTB,” he said.
According to him, MotoGP serves as a locomotive driving various strategic sectors to accelerate economic growth for the community.
“MotoGP is the momentum and the master event in Mandalika; let us work together to ensure the success of this event,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Operations of ITDC, Troy Warokka, stated that preparations for the MotoGP Indonesia event have reached 95 per cent.
“Preparations for supporting infrastructure and circuit track improvements are continuously being carried out in accordance with the standards set by Dorna,” he said.
