Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) is preparing additional flights (extra flights) with airlines following the continuous increase in air traffic during the Lebaran return period in 2026.

InJourney Airports’ President Director, Mohammad R. Pahlevi, stated that his company, along with stakeholders, particularly airlines, continues to optimise airport slot times, one of which is through the operation of additional flights by airlines.

“This aligns with the growing demand for air travel during the return flow,” said Pahlevi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He mentioned that on the return flow of 22 March 2026, the number of aircraft passenger movements at 37 airports managed by InJourney Airports was recorded at 468,604 passengers with 3,265 flights.

This figure then increased by around 14.4 percent on 23 March 2026, reaching 536,109 passengers with 3,636 flights.

Then on 24 March 2026, the number of passengers reached 583,815 passengers, or an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the previous day.

He said all airports have anticipated the increase in return traffic by optimising all airport resources, including flight slot times or the availability of time at the airport for aircraft departures and arrivals, taking into account the airport’s capacity during peak hours.

“As an airport manager, InJourney Airports ensures the availability of slot times at airports for extra flights operated by airlines. In line with this, all airports are on 24-hour standby according to the needs of the airlines,” he said.

Pahlevi explained that this step is also part of InJourney Airports’ commitment to strengthening air transport connectivity and accessibility in Indonesia.

“During the Lebaran transport period of 13-21 March 2026, around 2,400 extra flights have been operated on various flight routes,” he said.

“As for 25 March 2026, it is planned to have as many as 119 extra flights,” he clarified.

He said these additional flights are in addition to the regular scheduled flights. This number still has the potential to continue increasing until the Lebaran transport period ends on 30 March 2026.

InJourney Airports, along with all stakeholders, said Pahlevi, will continue to monitor traffic developments and ensure smoothness in providing services at airports.

He emphasised that InJourney Airports’ main focus during the return flow is also on handling aircraft passenger baggage, accessibility to and from the airport, and the availability of public transportation at the airport.

His company has carried out various improvements to facilities, infrastructure, and coordinated with relevant stakeholders to ensure smoothness and speed in handling aircraft passenger baggage, availability of public transportation, and accessibility to and from the airport.

“Throughout this Lebaran transport, InJourney Airports’ airports are projected to serve around nine million aircraft passengers,” said Pahlevi.
