InJourney Airports' Innovations Support Bali Tourism Growth

InJourney Airports, the operator of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, continues to innovate to support the growth of tourism in Bali. This includes opening various direct international flight routes and developing airport facilities.

Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, stated that Ngurah Rai Airport is continuously strengthening flight connectivity to facilitate the mobility of tourists to various destinations in Indonesia. Most recently, the airport opened a direct Bali-Canberra route served by Virgin Australia.

“This route is the 41st direct international route at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, operated by 43 airlines,” he said on Friday (3/7/2026).

According to Arie, every new international route opening will have a positive impact on the growth of foreign tourist visits to the Island of the Gods. Currently, foreign tourists holidaying in Bali are still dominated by visitors from Australia.

Arie noted that this is evident from the high flight connectivity on routes from Bali to various cities in the Land of Kangaroos. Australia is recorded as the country with the highest number of direct international flight routes to Bali.

“Of the 41 direct international flight routes, 12 are routes connecting Bali with various cities in Australia,” he added.

In addition to opening new flight routes, InJourney Airports is also continuously developing facilities at Ngurah Rai Airport, such as expanding and rearranging the terminal area.

Ngurah Rai Airport management has also expanded the passenger screening area and added baggage drop units in the departure area to improve passenger comfort and service efficiency. Furthermore, beautification of the airport area is being carried out by adding green elements and strengthening distinctive Balinese architectural features in various parts of the airport.

“Vehicle traffic management within the airport is also a concern. We have redesigned motor vehicle access routes and expanded the airport’s entry and exit access to ensure smooth traffic flow within the airport area,” Arie added.

Last year, Ngurah Rai Airport inaugurated a pedestrian bridge building connecting the passenger terminal to the vehicle parking area. The bridge area is equipped with passenger pick-up shelters to enhance the comfort of airport service users.

“These developments aim to facilitate passenger travel and support smooth airport operations 24 hours every day,” he concluded.
