PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports, is accelerating the operational readiness of Husein Sastranegara Airport to support the optimisation of domestic and international flights in Bandung, West Java. President Director of InJourney Airports, Mohammad R Pahlevi, stated that the initiative aligns with government policy as outlined in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s letter Number AU.102/1/8/DRJU.DAU/2026. “Preparations refer to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s letter, which emphasises that security, safety, and service aspects must meet requirements so that optimisation runs well and smoothly,” Pahlevi said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Under the directive, Husein Sastranegara Airport can serve scheduled domestic and international commercial air transport operations with jet and propeller aircraft. The airport is also permitted to handle non-scheduled domestic and international commercial air transport, as well as non-commercial domestic and international flights. “Currently, the operational condition of Husein Sastranegara Airport serves scheduled domestic commercial air transport with propeller aircraft for intra-Java routes,” he added. The company has established an Operational Readiness Activation and Transition team to carry out the preparatory steps. “We are grateful for the support from the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force, the BP for State-Owned Enterprises, Danantara, and InJourney in carrying out all the steps to optimise Husein Sastranegara Airport,” he said. Coordination is ongoing with various parties, including the Commander of the Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base, airlines, ground handling operators, immigration, customs, and other stakeholders. On the safety aspect, Pahlevi said preparations are underway to increase the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting capacity from the current category 5 to category 7. “These preparations include adding facilities such as foam tenders or airside standby vehicles to maintain safety,” he added. Meanwhile, on the security aspect, InJourney Airports is preparing additional Aviation Security personnel assigned to Husein Sastranegara Airport to achieve the required security system. Security is also supported by various facilities such as handheld metal detectors, walkthrough metal detectors, CCTV, and other security devices. Preparations are also being made on the airside, including runway surface overlay on several sectors to support jet aircraft operations, as well as ensuring the readiness of taxiways and aircraft parking aprons. “Regarding service aspects, stages of tidying up the passenger terminal in both domestic and international areas are currently underway,” he said. Pahlevi stated that the boarding lounge for passengers will be ensured to provide comfort when the airport resumes serving commercial jet flights. He affirmed the company’s commitment to delivering a better Husein Sastranegara Airport in terms of service, passenger terminal interior and exterior visuals, and infrastructure and facilities, while prioritising security, safety, service, and compliance with all regulations.
