State-owned enterprise PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports, has affirmed that security and safety are the top priorities for public service across all airports it manages, following an altercation at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten. “InJourney Airports consistently prioritises the security, safety, and service for airport users and passengers,” said InJourney Airports Corporate Secretary Group Head Arie Ahsanurrohim in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. Arie stated that to maintain these critical aspects, a number of personnel are stationed in passenger terminals, including Aviation Security (Avsec). He reported that on Monday evening, Avsec officers responded swiftly to a dispute between two individuals in the check-in area of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which triggered a commotion and potentially threatened the security and safety of other airport users. Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Yudistiawan, said Avsec officers carried out rapid handling in accordance with applicable operational standards. Yudistiawan explained that officers moved quickly to the location, brought the situation under control, separated the two parties involved, and coordinated with relevant elements to ensure conditions remained safe, orderly, and conducive without disrupting airport operations or the comfort of other users. Subsequently, the two individuals were taken to the Terminal 3 Police Post for mediation and further examination. According to him, thanks to the swift handling by Avsec officers, the situation in the Terminal 3 area was maintained safely, orderly, and conducively. “Service operations for users continued normally without any disruption to facilities or flight activities,” he said. Soekarno-Hatta Airport is committed to continuously maintaining the security, safety, and comfort of all service users through rapid response, good coordination with all stakeholders, and the implementation of applicable security standard procedures.
