InJourney: 209 flights delayed due to Anak Krakatau eruption
Tangerang (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), also known as InJourney Airports, has recorded 209 scheduled aircraft movements at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, being delayed or cancelled due to the impact of the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption.
“Based on flight data for the period of 6 September 2026, from 01:30 WIB to 09:30 WIB, there were 209 aircraft movements scheduled at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport that were cancelled,” said Yudistiawan, Assistant Deputy of Communication & Legal at Soeksoarno-Hatta International Airport, in Tangerang on Sunday.
According to him, of the 209 flights, 160 were domestic flights, 39 were international flights, and 10 were cargo flights.
“Soekarno-Hatta International Airport continues to coordinate with relevant stakeholders to manage the impact of the temporary closure, including flight schedule adjustments and passenger handling,” he stated.
Operational recovery steps will be carried out gradually, while still considering the development of volcanic ash conditions and flight safety aspects.
The main operator of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is currently coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure that operational handling and passenger services continue to run smoothly during this period.
As an anticipatory measure for affected passengers, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also activated Service Recovery Activation (SRA) by providing food and light refreshments for passengers.
“The airport has also prepared buses at every terminal to support passenger mobility to hotels, in coordination with airlines,” he added.
Furthermore, Yudis noted that several supporting facilities have been prepared to meet passenger needs during the temporary closure period, including the opening of a command post at Terminal 1B to facilitate coordination and field operational management.
“On the commercial service side, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has coordinated with tenants in the terminal to ensure that service operations can continue 24 hours a day, so that passenger needs during the temporary closure period can still be served,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Air Navigation Service Provider (LPPNPI), or AirNav Indonesia, has updated aeronautical information regarding the extension of the temporary airspace closure at three airports due to the impact of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.
EVP of Corporate Secretary at AirNav Indonesia, Hermana Soegijantlo, stated that through the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), the temporary flight closures for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII), Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH), and Radin Inten II Airport (WILL) have been extended.
“AirNav Indonesia also continues to coordinate with aviation stakeholders to ensure that information regarding airspace conditions and air navigation services is delivered in a timely manner,” he said.
He explained that Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is currently closed based on NOTAM A3346/26 (NOTAMR A3344/26), with validity starting from 08:36 WIB and an estimated reopening at 13:30 WIB on Sunday, 6 September 2026.
Meanwhile, the closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has been extended via NOTAM A3347/26 (NOTAMR A3345/26). The closure is effective from 09:49 WIB, with an estimated reopening at 14:00 WIB.
“For Radin Inten II Airport, the closure has been extended via NOTAM B1125/26 (NOTAMR B1124/26) since 09:55 WIB, with an estimated reopening at 14:00 WIB,” he said.
