Police and the TNI have differing data regarding the acid attack case on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The differences lie in the number of suspected perpetrators and the initials of those suspects.

According to the TNI version, there are four perpetrators. They are soldiers from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches originating from the Detachment of the Strategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters (Denma BAIS) TNI.

The initials of the four suspected perpetrators are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. TNI Puspom Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto stated that the suspected perpetrators are currently detained at Pomdam Jaya.

“The suspects have been secured and examined at TNI Puspom. For the detention location, we will place them at Pomdam Jaya, where there is super maximum security detention,” said Yusri during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3).

The suspected perpetrators are charged under Article 467 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code, which regulate planned assault.

Yusri could not yet answer regarding the motive or chain of command for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, including the possibility of additional suspects. Yusri said TNI Puspom is still delving into statements from the perpetrators.

Police version

Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya revealed two suspected perpetrators in the acid attack on Andrie. Both have initials different from those disclosed by TNI Puspom.

According to Polda Metro Jaya, the initials of the two perpetrators are BHC and MAK, with the possibility of more than two suspected perpetrators.

“Currently, we suspect that the two people we showed earlier from Polri’s Single Data, one with initials BHC, two with initials MAK. However, from our investigation results, it does not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators are suspected to be more than four,” said Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (18/3).

Meanwhile, the Civil Coalition urges the government to form a joint fact-finding team (TGPF) for the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus.

The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) expressed this demand after separate press conferences by the police and TNI on Wednesday (18/3). They emphasised the importance of handling the case transparently.

“Well, here we are even more convinced of the need for an independent TGPF (Joint Fact-Finding Team),” said Alghiffari Aqsa from AMAR Law Firm in a written statement on Wednesday.
