Initials of Four Suspects in Acid Attack on KontraS Activist; Three Are TNI Officers
Four TNI soldiers suspected of throwing acid at the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, have been secured. Three of them hold the rank of first officers. This was stated by the TNI Military Police Centre Commander (Danpuspom) TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The three officers involved hold the ranks of captain and first lieutenant. “Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, Sergeant ES,” Yusri explained. Regarding the TNI’s target timeline for resolving this case, Yusri said they would work as efficiently as possible in line with public expectations. He stated that the acid attack on Andrie Yunus by several of his soldiers would be processed professionally. “We will work as efficiently as possible with the hope that this investigation process can be carried out as quickly as possible, professionally, and then handed over to the prosecutor in this case, the military prosecutor (oditur militer), for trial,” Yusri emphasised. He then assured that the trial for this case would be open. “And so far, military trials have always been open,” Yusri added. Previously, Yusri had stated that his side had arrested four suspects suspected of throwing acid at KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Yusri mentioned that the four suspects, handed over by TNI BAIS, are from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches. “So this morning I received from the BAIS TNI commander four individuals suspected of carrying out the assault on Mr Andrie Yunus,” said Yusri. Yusri noted that the four suspects are from AL and AU. “From AL and AU,” he added.
