Initially Watching Damaged Building, Bogor Residents Shocked as Bridge Collapses

Residents of Pasirjaya, Bogor City, ran to find safe spots when the bridge connecting RW 04 and RW 03 collapsed amid heavy rain.

One resident, Dewi (45), revealed that during the incident, she and her neighbours were observing the remnants of a previously damaged building on Monday (4/5/2026).

However, the bridge suddenly collapsed, causing those nearby to flee towards higher settlements to save themselves.

As a result, access between RW 04 and RW 03 residents has been cut off.

Residents now must detour via Jalan Aria Surialaga for their activities.

Another resident, Yani (52), said that heavy rain around 2:00 PM WIB caused the Cikaret River flow to erode the underside of the bridge, leading to its collapse.

When the bridge fell, a loud noise was heard from the location.

“Before the rain, it was already closed; earlier, residents were passing one by one. Finally, I closed it,” she explained.

Previously, not far from there, a mosque in RW 03, Pasirjaya, West Bogor, also collapsed and was carried away by the river current during heavy rain on Sunday (3/5/2026) evening.

According to her, the mosque collapsed in three stages, around 6:30 PM WIB.

Several items such as the drum and carpets were swept away by the current, leaving only the imam’s pulpit.

“The lower barrier was completely empty after the upper terrace collapsed. Then the second time the terrace collapsed, and finally the entire mosque building, including the roof and drum, was swept downstream, leaving only the bridge now,” said Susanti in Gang Ago, West Bogor, Bogor City, on Sunday evening.
