Initial Operation of Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT Scheduled for 26 August

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro) has stated that the inauguration and initial operation of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route is scheduled for 26 August 2026.

To that end, the company is strengthening coordination with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to ensure service readiness.

“The coordination covers a series of tests on infrastructure and facilities, signalling systems, telecommunications, electricity, and overall system integration,” said Jakpro Director of Engineering and Development Robert Sarjaka in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, coordination between Jakpro and DJKA has been intensive since the construction phase through to the testing and operational preparation phase.

He emphasised that safety is the top priority in every construction and operation of transport infrastructure.

“Together with DJKA, we are carrying out each testing stage gradually and comprehensively to ensure all systems are ready to operate,” said Robert.

As is known, the Jakarta LRT will serve a 12.2-kilometre line connecting 11 stations, from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai.

The eleven stations that will operate include Kelapa Gading Station, Boulevard Utara Station, Boulevard Selatan Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.

Then, Rawamangun Station, Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, Proklamasi Station, and Manggarai Station.

In terms of integration, Rawamangun Station, Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and Proklamasi Station are integrated with Transjakarta services.

With the operation of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line, the journey from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai is targeted to take around 28 minutes.

“The presence of this line is expected to provide a faster and more efficient mobility alternative, while encouraging the public to increasingly choose public transport for daily travel,” said Robert.

On the other hand, Director General of Railways Allan Tandiono added that all testing stages are carried out gradually, systematically, and comprehensively to ensure each component can function in an integrated manner and meet safety, reliability, and service quality aspects before being used by the public.

“The system testing process is carried out thoroughly and in detail to ensure all technical and safety functions run optimally before being opened to the general public,” said Allan.
