Initial Funding for Poultry Farming Project in 5 Provinces Reaches Rp 5 Trillion
The government will build a poultry downstreaming project in the provinces of Gorontalo, West Nusa Tenggara, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Lampung. Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, stated that the project is being executed by PT Berdikari, a state-owned enterprise under the holding company PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero), or ID Food.
According to information obtained, Agung said the initial approved funding for the new project is approximately Rp 5 trillion. “And the disbursement will be carried out in stages,” he remarked when met at Hotel Bidakara, Jakarta, on Friday, 12 June 2026.
Agung stated that the project has been approved by PT Danantara Asset Management (DAM) after passing a feasibility study. As a start, PT Berdikari will request approval from ID Food to utilise a budget of Rp 16.7 billion for the preparatory phase of constructing the required facilities.
In the first phase, a chicken feed mill will be built for the Gorontalo project, followed by a parent stock farm. Subsequently, the project in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, will also see the construction of the same two facilities. Meanwhile, in East Java Province, construction of a grand parent stock farm is already underway. In South Sulawesi and Lampung, approval for the use of preparatory construction budgets is still pending.
“Although the construction is phased or in process, we have already begun preparing and shaping the ecosystem,” said Agung, who is also the President Commissioner of PT Berdikari. He noted that PT Berdikari has also conducted explorations and cooperation with farmer groups and cooperatives. A pilot project in Cianjur Regency is already running as a model for learning and ecosystem development in the five regions.
Agung conveyed that this poultry downstreaming project has a total budget of Rp 16.7 trillion to be built across 30 provinces. The number of farms to be constructed is targeted at 337 units by 2036. Previously, Danantara officially inaugurated the start of this poultry downstreaming project on 6 February 2026. The project targets absorbing 1.46 million workers, producing 1.5 million tonnes of chicken meat, and 1 million tonnes of chicken eggs.
