Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) Regent Ade Agus Hartanto has reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved road infrastructure and economic development on behalf of local residents.

During an audience with Investment Minister and Head of Indonesia's Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani on Monday (5 May 2025) in Jakarta, Regent Ade presented several key proposals.

The first concerned reactivating the mine-mouth power plant in Peranap. The proposal is driven by the ongoing damage to road infrastructure caused by coal-hauling lorries traversing the district's main roads.

"By reopening the mine-mouth facility in Peranap, this becomes a solution whereby coal can be utilised directly on site, reducing lorry movements and minimising road damage," he said.

Beyond the coal issue, Regent Ade also highlighted the state of the palm oil economy in Inhu, where the transport of crude palm oil (CPO) to Dumai is considered too far and similarly contributes to road infrastructure damage.

"Currently, farmers are forced to sell to Jambi because the prices are higher than in Riau, Minister," Ade said.

To address this, Regent Ade strongly advocated for downstream palm oil investment in Inhu Regency. "This represents a strategic opportunity and we are ready to prepare the land. Moreover, Inhu is also close to Indragiri Hilir Regency, which has a port," he explained.

The audience with the Investment and Downstream Industries Minister/BKPM was led by Riau Governor Abdul Wahid and attended by regents and mayors across Riau. At the close of the meeting, Regent Ade submitted a document containing his proposals to Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
