The investigation began following a tip-off from the public regarding a suspected drug transaction at a hotel on Jalan Lintas Timur, Pangkalan Kasai, Seberida District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. On Tuesday, 26 May, at around 2pm Western Indonesian Time, the Indragiri Hulu Police Precinct’s Narcotics Unit launched an investigation and surveillance operation at the hotel in question. Indragiri Hulu Police Chief, AKBP Eka Ariandy Putra, stated that during the operation his team arrested three suspects, identified as AR, R, and S. Officers seized eight kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine and thousands of ecstasy pills. After the intelligence was confirmed as reliable, a unit raided hotel room number 215, where suspect AR was arrested. Police also seized a suitcase containing ecstasy pills from a Daihatsu Terios with vehicle registration number BM-1823-HD parked at the hotel. A search of the suitcase found 14,614 ecstasy pills stamped with an ‘LV’ logo. During interrogation, AR confessed that the ecstasy was to be transported to Tanjung Balai Asahan, North Sumatra, alongside a suspect identified as R. Police subsequently arrested R, also known as RF, at a guesthouse, seizing a packet of crystal meth and 96 ecstasy pills hidden in a plastic bag inside a pillow. RF then admitted he had previously handed over ecstasy and crystal meth to suspect S. On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, officers arrested S on Jalan Lintas Selatan in Seresam Village, Seberida District. A search of S’s house uncovered eight packets of crystal meth and 4,700 green ecstasy pills bearing the ‘LV’ logo. In a significant development, the police precinct later destroyed the evidence from the operation conducted during May 2026. The total evidence seized included 8.8 kilogrammes of crystal meth and 19,706 ecstasy pills. Police Chief Eka Ariandy Putra stated this was the largest seizure in the history of the Indragiri Hulu Police Precinct’s Narcotics Unit. He noted that 1.08 kilogrammes of the crystal meth and 377 ecstasy pills were seized during the 2026 Antik Lancang Kuning Operation, while the remaining seven kilogrammes of crystal meth and 19,706 ecstasy pills were recovered during routine operations that month. Throughout the Antik Lancang Kuning Operation, which ran from 16 April to 7 May 2026, the precinct and its sub-precincts arrested 49 suspects, including two women.
