On Dec. 10, 2001 burglars broke into the office of Asuransi
Bintang through a water tunnel connecting Majapahit complex and
Majapahit canal and bored a 5-meter-long underground passage to
the branch manager's room and then made their way through the
ceiling of the office of Bumi Maritim Internasional beside it to
the place where the safe was located.

The burglars made off with more than Rp 600 million. The
burglary was then reported to the police who later conducted an
investigation. A similar incident also occurred in Harmony Plaza
some time back but the police have not yet been able to catch the
culprits.

I would like to appeal to the police to show some seriousness
in investigating this crime as crimes of this sort often take
place around the presidential palace.
