Infographic: Favourite Snacks of Indonesians

According to data from the 2025 Food Consumption Statistics document, information regarding regions with the highest snack preferences can be identified through population expenditure on the Prepared Food and Beverage group. There are several interesting findings related to this data. One notable point is that the average monthly per capita expenditure for prepared food and beverages among urban residents reaches Rp 294,188, whereas expenditure for rural residents is significantly lower at Rp 181,387 per month. Furthermore, on a national scale, Indonesians show a high preference for certain types of snacks, with fried foods (gorengan) reigning as the favourite. The data also reveals patterns in snack spending across different provinces; surprisingly, the highest expenditure for snacks is not found in Jakarta, but rather in the Highland Papua province.
