Cases of Influenza A are currently surging in Indonesia. The city of Cimahi, West Java, is also on alert after visits to healthcare facilities increased and hospital Emergency Departments (ED) became more crowded.

“We urge the community to increase vigilance against influenza, including Influenza A. This is particularly important now as visits to healthcare facilities have risen and hospital EDs are becoming more congested,” added the Head of the Cimahi City Health Office, Mulyati, when confirmed on Monday (28/09/2026).

Although not specifically caused by Influenza A, the Cimahi City Health Office has received reports that almost all healthcare facilities, such as community health centres (Puskesmas) and hospitals, are experiencing a surge in patients. As a result, there has been congestion in medical handling, particularly in the ED.

“In essence, almost all hospitals are seeing an increase in patients, even if not specifically caused by Influenza A. However, Influenza A is indeed on the rise right now; nevertheless, the public does not need to panic,” said Mulyati.

She explained that Influenza A is a virus that infects the respiratory tract and can be transmitted through droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, as well as through contaminated hands or objects.
