The case of the assault leading to the death of a Brunei Darussalam citizen, identified by the initials MHF (30), involving influencer Mohamad Irman Ali (33), known as Woodyrman, is still ongoing. The Bruneian influencer now faces two legal options.

The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday (6/5) at 3.30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time in Blok M, South Jakarta. Woodyrman initially became involved in a verbal argument with the victim, which ended in assault.

Woodyrman struck the victim with a glass bottle, causing him to fall. The victim was rushed to hospital after collapsing. Following treatment, the victim was pronounced dead at RSPP Hospital on Saturday (16/5).

Woodyrman has been named a suspect and is currently detained at the Metro Jaya Police detention centre. A police-to-police system is currently being employed to follow up on Woodyrman’s legal process.

“For the handling of the case, we are still coordinating with the prosecution service while fulfilling their instructions,” said AKBP Ressa Fiardy Marasabessy, Head of the Mobile Investigation Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate, to reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/6/2026).

The Metro Jaya Police have also established communication with the Brunei police regarding Woodyrman’s legal process. Communication is still ongoing.

“Additionally, we are also conducting police-to-police communication between the Indonesian National Police and the Brunei National Police,” he added.

He stated that there is still a possibility for Woodyrman to be tried in Indonesia. The other option is for Woodyrman to be returned to Brunei to serve his sentence in his home country. Ressa said both options are still being discussed with the relevant parties.

“Both possibilities (extradition or trial in Indonesia) remain open; certainty will await the results of coordination with the relevant parties,” he said.
