Inflation in Bangka Belitung Under Control, Lowest Annual Rate
The province of Bangka Belitung, based on the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) release in March 2026, experienced inflation of 0.41% on a monthly or month-to-month (mtm) basis and 1.87% on an annual or year-on-year (yoy) basis.
The Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Bangka Belitung Province, Rommy Sariu Tamawiwy, stated that the annual inflation figure remains within the national inflation target of 2.5% plus 1 and is lower than the national inflation of 3.48% (yoy).
In line with this, Bangka Belitung Province is recorded as the region with the second-lowest annual inflation nationwide, Rommy said in a Bank Indonesia press release on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
On a monthly basis, Rommy explained, inflation was driven by increases in the price index for the food, beverages, and tobacco group. On an annual basis, he added, inflation was propelled by rises in the price index for personal care and other services, particularly jewellery gold commodities in line with global price increases.
Meanwhile, price pressures on commodities such as broiler chicken meat and squid during the Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period this time remain relatively controlled compared to the same momentum last year, he stated.
Rommy explained that Bank Indonesia, together with the local government in the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), collaborates to carry out commitments according to their respective duties in keeping inflation within the national target.
We are endeavouring to curb inflationary pressures, especially those stemming from food items (volatile foods). Various concrete steps have been taken to ensure controlled inflation during this year’s Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr periods, he said.
According to Rommy, Bank Indonesia along with TPID also organised Cheap Market Operations and Cheap Food Movement 46 times at various points in the Bangka Belitung region, on time, on target, and with the right commodities.
This is done so that the public can easily access food items at affordable prices. In those activities, we facilitated 31 implementations of OPM and GPM. We also facilitated the distribution of 18.5 tons of frozen beef from Bekasi to East Belitung Regency as a proactive effort to suppress surges in beef prices, he said.
Rommy added that his side routinely conducts market inspections to ensure the availability of food stocks for the public, especially ahead of National Religious Holidays.
High-level meetings led by the regional head are also held to formulate regional inflation control policies. This also serves as an effort to manage public expectations amid inflationary pressures, he said.
