Infant mortality rate drops in Bali
DENPASAR, Bali: The infant mortality rate in Bali has dropped from 30.71 per thousand births in 1999 to 27.76 per thousand births born in 2000, according to the chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement Mrs. Dewa Beratha.
"The maternal mortality rate has also dropped from 121 per 100,000 births in 1999 to 78 per 100,000 births in 2000," she said here on Tuesday.
According to the wife of Bali's governor, the province had also made significant achievements in infant nutrition.
She said that the Family Welfare Movement would continue working hard to help people improve their quality of life.
"The price of staple foods continues to increase while people's buying power is weakening," she said. --Antara
