Hundreds of students from the Citizenship Education programme at UPI Bandung attended the Parliament School at the West Java DPRD Banmus Room on Thursday (16/4/2026). All participants appeared enthusiastic about receiving material on the duties and authority of council members from PDIP faction chair Ineu Purwadewi Sundari. “We are receiving students in the parliament school programme. They are from PPKN at UPI Bandung who want to learn about DPRD performance,” said Ineu. The students present have so far been involved in the UPI student representative council (DPM). They visited the West Java DPRD building to learn about the legislative process at the West Java DPRD. As well as discussing the role of the DPRD and the legislative process from budget allocation to oversight carried out by the DPRD. “We are pleased they want to learn about DPRD work. Because we want students to become politically aware,” said Ineu. According to Ineu, this Parliament School is one of her efforts to invite young people to care about state affairs. And not to be antipathetic towards political activities. “So at least, they don’t view politics as something to be avoided, but rather see it as something that can provide solutions and benefits for others. I also didn’t expect that many young people were interested in DPRD activities earlier,” she said. Ineu explained that this activity to introduce parliament is actually not the first time. Previously, her side had been invited to several campuses to introduce council duties. She has given lectures at Unla, Unpas, UPI, and UIN campuses. “In addition, 400 UIN students once came to the West Java DPRD building in commemoration of Pancasila. We hope this activity can foster a generation that cares, is politically aware, understands, and respects the performance of the West Java DPRD as a local government element. Even better if they are motivated to get involved in politics,” she explained. At the same location, the Secretary of the Citizenship Education Study Programme at UPI, Sri Wahyuni Tanshzil, said that the theme raised in this Parliament School is to realise adaptive, solution-oriented students with strong provisions as citizenship students. “This Parliament School becomes a real space to sharpen the sensitivity of all students,” she said.
