Ineu Purwadewi Calls for Central-Regional Collaboration to Prioritise West Java's Development
The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) held the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang) to establish the direction for the regional development work plan in 2027. In that forum, it was agreed that the infrastructure, education, and health sectors remain priorities for development in West Java.
PDIP Faction Chair in the West Java DPRD, Ineu Purwadewi Sundari, assessed that designating infrastructure, education, and health as primary development priorities is an appropriate step. This is because infrastructure is not limited to physical construction but serves as the lifeline that boosts economic growth and fulfils the basic needs of the wider community.
“If it’s education, health, and road development, they are necessary. This is for the sake of meeting basic needs such as food that requires roads for smooth distribution, as well as access to education and health. Everything is greatly influenced by infrastructure,” said Ineu to Republika.co.id on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Ineu also provided notes on the Musrenbang outcomes. She stated that to realise these major targets amid the current economic situation and global challenges, Pemprov Jabar cannot proceed alone.
Moreover, there must be thorough programme synchronisation between the central government, province, and district/city governments. All parties, including the central government, must work together to build West Java and help solve problems in the districts/cities.
“The central government must support West Java Province because a quarter of Indonesia’s population is in West Java. So, all parties must collaborate and work together to solve various problems in society,” said Ineu.
Without alignment, Ineu worries there will be programme overlaps and budget inefficiencies. Ineu also appreciated the West Java Governor’s initiative to offer a cost-sharing scheme or burden-sharing across governments for cross-sectoral programmes.
“The Governor even said, if there are joint programmes to be carried out, how much funding is needed, let’s share the burden between the province and districts/cities. The load is divided to lighten it,” said Ineu.
Ineu emphasised that the essence of provincial government governance is fundamentally to support second-level regions. “The people of the province are essentially the people of the districts and cities as well. So, we (the province) are in a supporting role. Without moving together in the current situation, it will certainly be quite challenging,” she said.
In addition to physical development, Ineu highlighted the crucial target of the West Java Governor in boosting the Human Development Index (IPM). This includes fulfilling indicators of the education index such as average years of schooling to improvements in life expectancy, which directly correlate with poverty alleviation efforts in West Java.
“This also includes the democracy index and other fields; the hope is that by 2027, the priority programmes can be implemented on target and in accordance with the real needs of the community,” said this legislator from the West Java XI electoral district.
