Industry Players Support the Utilisation of Vegetable Fuel
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (GAIKINDO) and the Indonesian Association of Used Cooking Oil Collectors for Renewable Energy (APJETI) support the implementation of vegetable fuel (BBN) as part of strengthening national energy resilience. “We support the utilisation of vegetable fuel as a strategic step to strengthen national energy resilience, while still considering compatibility with the diverse characteristics of vehicle technologies in Indonesia,” said GAIKINDO Representative Abdul Rahim in a statement received in Malang, East Java, on Wednesday. Meanwhile, APJETI Representative Matias Tumanggor assessed that this policy opens up broader opportunities for renewable energy raw material business actors to contribute. “The BBN utilisation policy provides great opportunities for the use of used cooking oil as a raw material for biodiesel and bioavtur, while encouraging the development of a circular economy in the energy sector,” said Matias. Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Eniya Listiani Dewi explained that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree on the Phasing of BBN Utilisation serves as a strategic reference to encourage investment and the development of the national BBN industry. This policy regulates the gradual implementation of BBN blending into petroleum fuels, taking into account the readiness of raw materials, infrastructure, special financing support for the public service obligation (PSO) sector, and the readiness of the user sector. Meanwhile, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 4 of 2025 serves as the basis for more comprehensive regulation of BBN development. This regulation covers the types of BBN, the business chain from provision to distribution and final utilisation, obligations of business entities, price determination, as well as technical aspects, safety, environment, incentives, and the application of carbon economic value.
