Industry Ministry strengthens SME and abattoir partnership to boost halal ecosystem

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is strengthening partnerships between metal small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and abattoirs (RPH) to open new market access while encouraging the formation of a competitive halal industry ecosystem.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita affirmed that strengthening an independent and competitive national industrial structure needs to be supported by solid integration and partnerships along the entire value chain.

“The Ministry of Industry continues to pursue the expansion of strategic partnerships for the SME sector so that they can enter the supply chains of potential users in various sectors, including in the provision of facilities and infrastructure supporting halal food,” said the Minister in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.

One concrete step is being carried out through the development of partnerships between metal SMEs and abattoirs, particularly in the supply of quality slaughtering tools and post-slaughter processing equipment that meet standards.

“Through improving quality standards and compliance with quality requirements, products made by local SMEs must become the host and the primary choice in meeting domestic market needs,” he stressed.

The government, the Minister continued, acts as a bridge between SME players and large industries as well as other economic sectors that can become potential partners.

“In this case, we provide assistance to metal SME players so that they can partner with abattoirs. Abattoirs have a sustainable need for products, so there is an opportunity to build mutually beneficial cooperation,” he explained.
