Industry Ministry Strengthens Efforts to Produce Globally Competitive Industrial Workforce

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry is strengthening efforts to develop competent and globally competitive industrial human resources in order to maintain the consistent performance of the manufacturing sector as the primary engine of national economic growth.

Doddy Rahadi, Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) at the Ministry of Industry, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that to realise this commitment, the agency is expanding international cooperation with Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Swisscontact, as well as with Germany through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

According to him, the collaboration is directed at accelerating the improvement of national industrial human resource competency standards so they can compete at a global level, while also delivering tangible impact on the development of the industrial vocational education ecosystem.

He said this impact is visible in the provision of grants for modern practical equipment in education units, capacity building for educators and trainees, as well as institutional strengthening and learning tools aligned with current manufacturing needs.

He added that BPSDMI continues to expand partnerships with the business community and industry by consolidating the dual system of education, which includes In-Company Trainer programmes, strengthening Career Development Centers, and digitalising vocational services.

These steps, he said, are focused on increasing graduate absorption rates so they can contribute directly to the national manufacturing supply chain.

As a tangible demonstration of the sustainability of this strategic partnership, BPSDMI, together with the Swiss and German governments, will officially hold the National Dual Vocational Education and Training (DVET) 2026 event on Tuesday to Thursday, 21-23 July 2026.
