Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji is strengthening cooperation with various parties, across ministries, and agencies to transform the industrial sector into a leverage factor for economic growth and to expand employment opportunities.

Sarmuji stated that strengthening the industrial sector is a significant challenge that requires cross-ministerial and inter-agency collaboration.

“Indeed, this is not a light task, making industry a leverage factor for economic growth and labour absorption. It is not something easy. But that is precisely the challenge we must face and resolve,” said Sarmugi following the handover of the Minister of Industry position in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) needs to build a grand vision so that the national industrial sector becomes increasingly robust in the future. To achieve this, cooperation with other ministries is vital because industrial development is linked to various aspects.

Sarmuji noted that the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM plays a role from the investment perspective, while the Ministry of Finance is involved regarding relaxation and incentives for the industrial world.

Furthermore, coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is necessary because the availability of gas is one of the resources that can support industrial growth.

He also assessed that coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture is required because there is an upstream sector that can be encouraged to create added value through industrialisation and downstreaming.

“Therefore, we cannot work alone. Collaboration is essential to collectively make the industrial sector a leverage for economic growth and employment absorption,” he said.

Previously, President Prabowo inaugurated Sarmuji as Minister of Industry, replacing Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10).

Alongside Sarmuji, other state officials inaugurated by the President at the State Palace today included Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto as Chief of National Police, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo as Chief of Staff to the President, Sugiono as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Dudung Abdurachman as Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Arrmanatha Nasir as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Police Commissioner General Dedy Prasetyo as Head of the National Agrarian Reform Agency, and Bahlil Lahadalia as Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition.
