Industry Department Says Sanyo to Improve Capacity In Indonesia
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Sanyo Electric Co Ltd Global the Japanese electronic appliances maker reprtedly to move some of its capacity from its facility in China to Indonesia, the Industry Department said on Tuesday.
Director of Telematics of the Industry Departemnet Ramon Bangun said Sanyo to switch its digital camera production capacity to Indonesia, which will improve production by 3 million units annually to 10.5 million units.
Ramon said the improved capacity will absorb work force by around 20 percent of Sanyo's current labor in Indonesia, without providing details.
Sanyo already operates two factories in Indonesia but Ramon did not mention whether Sanyo is planning to build another factory.
Ramon said investors picked indonesia for its lower wage levels compared to wage rate in China.
