Industry and innovation
From Republika
We are witnessing the rapid development of science and technology in this era of globalization, in which Indonesia is trying to catch up.
The successful development of transportation means will also reflect the progress achieved by the nation's development program. Indonesia has proven itself in this area. IPTN, the state-owned aircraft industry, has produced the CN-235, PT PAL has produced sea vessels, and PT INKA has produced the Argo Bromo train.
I believe we are also capable of producing our own cars, bearing in mind the following factors:
* Annual demand for cars keeps increasing. So the car market is promising.
* Indonesian technology is progressing, which is conducive to the car industry.
* Indonesia is rich in raw materials, which will help the car industry to be competitive.
* The government can collaborate with the private sector and avoid any monopoly or oligopoly practices.
Next we need to begin a promotion drive to support the purchase of made-in-Indonesia products.
