Industrial output in Malaysai up

KUALA LUMPUR: Industrial production in Malaysia grew 9.8
percent year-on-year in September, supported by growth in all
sectors, Statistics Department data showed on Monday.

Month-on-month, output edged up 1.7 percent.

In August, output rose 10.6 percent year-on-year but fell 3.2
percent from July.

In September, manufacturing rose 11.5 percent year-on-year,
with electricity up 8.8 percent and mining up 0.3 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, manufacturing output in September
rose 4.4 percent, while electricity and mining increased 1.6
percent and 11.6 percent respectively.

For the first nine months of the year, industrial production
increased 12.6 percent, supported by a 14.5 percent rise in
manufacturing, 8.5 percent in electricity and 5.0 percent in the
mining sector.-- AFP
