Wilmar International is strengthening its commitment to supporting the improved work readiness of the younger generation through its internship programme.

This programme is designed to bridge the gap between the world of education and industry needs.

This effort aligns with the government’s push to create human resources (HR) that are ready for work, especially amid the increasingly dynamic demands of the industrial world.

“Students can be better prepared to enter the workforce after graduation,” said Erlina in an official statement on Monday (20/4/2026).

Wilmar provides two schemes in its internship programme. First, a regular programme lasting up to three months. Second, a competency-based programme lasting up to six months.

In the competency-based scheme, students not only gain work experience but can also use the programme to complete their final assignments.

This programme gives students the opportunity to understand work processes directly, while honing skills relevant to industry needs.

In its implementation, Wilmar has collaborated with various educational institutions.

Some of the involved campuses include Akademi Kimia Analis (AKA) Bogor, Institut Pertanian Stiper (Instiper) Yogyakarta, Fakultas Agribisnis Institut Pertanian Bogor, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Gadjah Mada, Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi, Universitas Widya Mandala Surabaya, and Politeknik Industri Petrokimia Banten.

Additionally, since last year, the company has also partnered with the Ministry of Manpower in implementing the national internship programme through the SiapKerja platform.

Erlina stated that, based on the experience of implementing the programme, students who participate in internships tend to find jobs more easily after graduation.

The work experience gained during the internship is seen as an added value for participants when entering the job market.

This shows that the internship programme not only functions as a learning medium but also serves as a gateway to the working world.

Looking ahead, Wilmar states it will continue to develop the internship programme as part of the company’s contribution to supporting the development of superior human resources and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s workforce.

This programme is expected to continue expanding its impact, both for students and the industrial world, through improved quality of relevant and applicable work experience.
