Indramayu's Integrated 'Sekolah Rakyat' to Commence Orientation in Late July 2026
The Indramayu Regency Government has confirmed that the integrated ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) in the region is ready to commence its Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS) orientation period for the 2026/2027 academic year starting 31 July 2026. This follows the construction of the school’s infrastructure entering its final phase.
Iin Indrayati, Head of the Transition Team for the Permanent Sekolah Rakyat in Indramayu, stated on Monday that the school, built on a 10-hectare site, is a collaboration between the local government and the Ministry of Social Affairs. It is designed as an integrated educational complex serving students from elementary (SD), junior high (SMP), through to senior high school (SMA) levels.
Indrayati noted that the readiness was confirmed after the team conducted monitoring and evaluation of preparations for the MPLS for prospective new students at the complex. She added that an additional 100 students from a pilot school will also join the institution.
According to Indrayati, the presence of the Sekolah Rakyat is part of the government’s effort to expand access to education while simultaneously improving the quality of human resources through the provision of adequate learning facilities. “The existence of the Sekolah Rakyat is a form of the government’s commitment, both the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Indramayu Regency Government, to building superior human resources and expanding equitable access to education,” she said.
Meanwhile, Agus Saputra Aryanto, Inspector for Social Empowerment at the Ministry of Social Affairs, stated that the Sekolah Rakyat complex is built as an educational area equipped with various supporting facilities for learning activities. He mentioned that the complex also features a football pitch, jogging track, basketball court, multipurpose area, and an educational park supported by a sustainable environmental management system. Agus noted that the commencement of the MPLS marks the entry of the Sekolah Rakyat into its utilisation phase, allowing the community to begin reaping its benefits.
