Indramayu sacrificial cow rampages and crashes into motorcycles during Idul Adha, locals panic
A cow rampaged while being prepared for sacrifice during Idul Adha in Rancakitiran block, Kroya subdistrict, Indramayu regency, West Java, causing panic among locals. Social media footage showed a large brown cow attempting to flee, with residents running to avoid the animal and heard screams of fear. The cow then charged into motorcycles parked at the local mosque, causing several to fall and sustained damage. Kroya police station chief, Iptu Khaerudin Zuhri, stated the incident occurred on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, during the sacrifice ceremony after the goats had been slaughtered. ‘When it was the cow’s turn, a technical issue caused it to panic,’ he said. He explained the animal had been tied, but a loose rope allowed it to break free and charge into the motorcycle lineup. ‘We confirmed no casualties occurred. The motorcycle owners did not demand compensation,’ he added. The situation was quickly controlled by the sacrifice committee and local community members, and the sacrifice proceeded smoothly. ‘The incident was brief. The situation returned to normal, the cow was slaughtered, and the meat distributed to the community,’ he concluded.
