Strengthening patrols forms part of efforts to maintain security.

Indramayu Police (Polres Indramayu) have established a Rapid Response Unit (URC) aimed at strengthening the fight against street crime.

“This URC is tasked with responding rapidly to every report of criminal activity in Indramayu Regency. Among these are robberies (begal), violent theft (curas), thuggery, motorbike theft (curanmor), and motorcycle gang activity across the entire Indramayu Regency area,” said Indramayu Police Chief AKB Mochamad Fajar Gemilang on Monday (27/7).

According to him, the formation of the URC follows instructions from the West Java Regional Police Chief to tackle various forms of street crime. The Indramayu Police URC team consists of ten selected personnel, whose strength will be fully supported by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) and local police stations, in accordance with needs on the ground.

This special team is focused on being the front line in providing lightning-fast responses to every public complaint and emergency request, as well as firm action against all forms of public security and order disturbance (kamtibmas).

“We have formed the Rapid Response Unit with the primary task of carrying out rapid responses to public services, requests for assistance, and the handling of street crime, thuggery, motorcycle gangs, motorbike theft, robbery, and other criminal acts within Indramayu Police’s jurisdiction,” Fajar explained.

CALL CENTRE SERVICE

The URC team’s operations will be directly integrated with the National Police’s 110 emergency call centre service. Every report or emergency call received from the public will be immediately followed up at the scene of the incident.

“Every public need that comes in through the 110 service will be responded to immediately. The Rapid Response Unit will move swiftly to the location to provide assistance, carry out initial handling, and take action against perpetrators if criminal elements are found,” he affirmed.

Fajar also issued a stern warning to criminals not to dare disturb the peace of residents in Indramayu Regency.

“We will take firm action against all perpetrators of street crime in every corner of Indramayu Police’s jurisdiction. There is no place for criminals who threaten public safety,” he asserted.

Beyond the Rapid Response Unit, the police chief also emphasised that preventive measures remain the top priority.

“What is more important is prevention. That is why we continue to increase routine patrols whilst also forming this special Rapid Response Unit that we are launching today,” he added.
