Indramayu Family Murderer Sentenced to Death, Victim's Mother Expresses Satisfaction
Tety Setiawai, the mother of the victims in the Indramayu family murder case, expressed immense gratitude after the defendant, Ririn Rifanto, was sentenced to death. The verdict was delivered during a trial at the Indramayu District Court on Wednesday (8/7/2026). “Thank you very much. I am very satisfied that Ririn got the death penalty. I am grateful, Masya Allah,” Tety said when met after the trial. Tety acknowledged that the death sentence for the defendant Ririn would not bring back the lives of her child, grandchild, in-laws, and daughter-in-law. However, she felt the punishment at least provided a sense of justice. “Even though it is not comparable, the most important thing is that Ririn is sentenced to death,” Tety insisted amidst her sobs. Tety also expressed her gratitude to all parties who supported the victims in this case. She also hoped that the victims would attain husnul khotimah. “May the deceased achieve husnul khotimah,” Tety said, unable to hold back her tears. The panel of judges, chaired by Wimmy D Simarmata, declared that the defendant Ririn was legally and convincingly proven guilty of participating in premeditated murder and committing violence against a child resulting in death. “Sentencing the defendant to death, with a probationary period of ten years,” Wimmy asserted. The judge revealed that the death penalty could be commuted to life imprisonment by presidential decree, after consideration by the Supreme Court, if the defendant demonstrates commendable attitude and actions during the probationary period.
