Indramayu family murder: Priyo's testimony exposes Ririn's lies

Indramayu, Indonesia – Priyo Bagus Setiawan, a defendant in the murder of a family from Paoman, Indramayu, gave startling testimony at the continued hearing at the Indramayu District Court on Monday, 18 May 2026. In the hearing, he testified as a witness for the defendant Ririn Rifanto.

In his testimony before the panel of judges, Priyo refuted all statements he had made at the initial hearing held some time earlier. He said he had merely followed Ririn’s scenario to escape punishment.

Priyo previously stated that Ririn was not the actual perpetrator, but Aman Yani, Hardi, Joko, and Yoga. However in this session, he said he did not know Aman Yani and that the other three names were fictional figures.

Reacting to this, the defence lawyer for the victim’s family, Heri Reang, disclosed that Priyo’s testimony further clarifies the legal facts of the case. He insisted that the allegations of other perpetrators named Aman Yani, Hardi, Joko and Yoga were directly refuted by Priyo.

“As the victim’s lawyer, I am very pleased with the presence of key witness Priyo. The claims that there were four other perpetrators, which had been widely circulated, were proven false in court today,” said Heri.

Heri said that the parties have entrusted the handling of the case entirely to the Prosecutor (JPU) and the panel of judges. He hopes the perpetrators receive the maximum punishment for the brutal murder.

“I hope for the death penalty. This is very brutal indeed,” he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the possibility of other perpetrators, Heri stated that Priyo had denied it. In fact, Priyo also claimed not to know the names Aman Yani, Hardi, Eko and Yoga.

“There is none. Earlier the defendant Priyo, as a witness, did not know Joko, did not know Hardi, did not know Yoga, did not know Aman Yani,” he said.

As known, a family of five was found dead, buried inside their own home in Paoman, Indramayu District on August 2025. They consisted of Haji Syahroni, Budi (Haji Syahroni’s son), Euis (Budi’s wife), Ratu (7) and Bela (8 months), who are the children of the couple Budi – Euis.
