Indramayu Deputy Regent Files Pre-trial Motion to Challenge Suspect Status; West Java Prosecutor's Office Ready to Respond
The Deputy Regent of Indrammuayu, Syaefudin, has filed a pre-trial motion following his designation as a suspect by the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) regarding the Indramayu Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) housing allowance case. The lawsuit was registered at the Bandung District Court (PN Bandung) under case number 22/Pid.Pra/2026/PN Bdg on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
According to the Case Search Information System (SIPP), the classification of the case pertains to the legality of the enforcement measures used to designate the suspect. The indictment description states: “Case Classification: The legality or illegality of the execution of Coercive Measures for Suspect Designation.”
Responding to the lawsuit, the Head of the Legal and Human Rights Division of the West Java Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahwijaya, stated that his office has prepared a team to face the pre-trial proceedings and is ready to proceed with the trial.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has prepared a team to face the pre-trial application submitted by the individual concerned,” he said when confirmed on Monday (21/9/2026).
For context, Syaefudin was named a suspect over alleged corruption involving housing and transportation allowances for the Indramayu DPRD for the 2022-2025 fiscal year, alongside two others, identified as IM and AF. All three are officials in the Indramayu Regency.
Syaefudin allegedly committed the alleged corruption while serving as the Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period. At that time, IM served as the Acting Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD, while AF served as the Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD for 2022-20ng5.
The West Java Prosecutor’s Office summoned all three individuals on 12 June 2026. However, only IM and AF appeared; Syaefudin failed to attend the summons, citing illness.
The prosecution subsequently issued a follow-up summons for the Deputy Regent. All three suspects have not yet been detained by the West Java Prosecutor’s Office despite being officially named suspects.
