Indramayu Deputy Regent and Two Others Named Suspects in DPRD Housing Allowance Corruption Case
The investigation into alleged corruption in the housing allowance for the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 fiscal year has entered a new phase. The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has named three suspects, including Indramayu Deputy Regent Syaefudin. The suspects were named in a case concerning alleged irregularities in the housing and transport allowance budget for the leadership and members of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 to 2025 fiscal years. Based on an audit by the Financial Audit Board, the case is suspected of causing state losses of approximately Rp1.8 billion. Investigators revealed that Syaefudin was the Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period before being elected as Deputy Regent for the 2024-2029 period. Meanwhile, suspect IM previously served as Acting Secretary of the Indramayu Regency DPRD and Budget User from November 2021 to August 2022. AF is the Secretary of the Indramayu Regency DPRD who served from August 2022 to June 2025. On Friday, 12 June 2026, investigators scheduled an examination of the three suspects. However, only IM and AF attended the summons. Syaefudin did not appear, citing illness, and submitted a medical certificate to investigators. Despite being named suspects, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has not yet detained the three individuals. Investigators are still examining the construction of the case and the roles of each suspect before taking further legal action. The Head of Legal Information for the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that investigators are currently focused on completing the evidence and deepening the involvement of the parties in the case. She added that the modus operandi and case construction will be presented after all suspects have been examined. The investigation process is ongoing, with investigators working to fully uncover the alleged budget irregularities in the housing and transport allowances that occurred within the Indramayu Regency DPRD from 2022 to 2025. The case has drawn attention because it implicates an active regional head who previously served as the DPRD chairman when the budget was realised.
