Indramayu Deputy Regent and Two Others Named Suspects in DPRD Housing Allowance Corruption Case
The investigation into the alleged corruption of the Indramayu Regency DPRD housing allowance for the 2022 fiscal year has entered a new phase. The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has named three individuals as suspects, including the Deputy Regent of Indramlaru, Syaefudin.
The designation of suspects pertains to the alleged misappropriation of budget allocations for housing and transport allowances for the leadership and members of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 to 2025 fiscal years. In addition to Syaefudin, the two other suspects are identified by the initials IM and AF. All three are alleged to have played roles in the management of the budget currently under investigation.
Based on an audit by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the case is alleged to have caused state losses of approximately Rp1.8 billion.
Investigators revealed that Syaefudin served as the Chairperson of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period before being elected as the Deputy Regent of Indramayu for the 2024-2029 term. Meanwhile, the suspect IM previously served as the Acting Secretary of the Indramayu Regency DPRD and as the Budget User from November 2021 to August 2022. AF served as the Secretary of the Indramayu Regency DPRD from August 2022 to June 2025.
On Friday, 12 June 2026, investigators scheduled examinations for the three suspects. However, only IM and AF attended the summons. Syaefudin failed to appear, citing illness and having submitted a medical certificate to the investigators. Despite being named suspects, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has not yet detained any of the three individuals.
Investigators are still deepening their study of the case construction and the specific roles of each suspect before taking further legal action. The Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that investigators are currently focused on completing the evidence and investigating the involvement of all parties involved.
“The modus operandi and the construction of the case will be disclosed once all suspects have completed their examinations. Currently, investigators are still examining the role of each party and considering further legal steps, including the possibility of detaining the suspects,” he said on Friday, 12 June 2026.
The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has ensured that the investigation process is ongoing. Investigators are now working to fully uncover the alleged misappropriation of housing and transport allowance budgets occurring within the Indramayu Regency DPRD environment during the 2022 to 2025 period.
Developments in this case have drawn significant attention as they involve an active regional head who previously held a leadership position in the DPRD when the budget in question was realised.
