Indosat's credit card call

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned international call operator PT Indosat, in cooperation with Citibank, Indonesia, on Monday launched a new service called Credit Card Calling Service.

"With this new service, Citibank cardholders in Indonesia can now make international calls from any phone in Indonesia to 260 countries by dialing their credit card number and PIN number," Indosat's president Tjahjono Soerjodibroto said.

The charge of international calls made using a credit card will appear on the cardholder's monthly credit card bill, Tjahjono said.

According to Tjahjono, the new feature will give customers a wider range of alternatives in making international calls. He said there would be no change in the rates of calls made using a credit card.

Citibank's country manager for Indonesia, Barry Lesmana, said that with Indosat's new service, 700,000 Citibank cardholders in Indonesia would have the convenience of being able to make international calls from all telephone terminals, with rates the same as if the calls were made from home.

"The rates of international calls made from a hotel are more expensive because callers are paying expensive surcharges," Barry said. (02)
