Indosat Secures 'Golden Spectrum', Plans Network Optimisation

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has confirmed it will optimise the use of its newly acquired frequency spectrum following the recent auction. The company secured the spectrum as part of its strategy to develop its national network. “Indosat will gradually optimise the use of the spectrum as part of our national network development strategy,” said Director and Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Reski Damayanti, in an official statement on Monday (27/7/2026). She explained that the 700 MHz band has characteristics of wide coverage and good indoor penetration. This will complement the company’s spectrum portfolio, particularly for expanding 5G services. “The characteristics of the 700 MHz band, which has wide coverage and good indoor penetration, will complement the company’s spectrum portfolio, including in the development of broader 5G services,” she clarified. Reski added that Indosat is optimistic it can deliver competitive services with its increasingly strong spectrum portfolio. This is also expected to provide real benefits for customers, businesses, and Indonesia’s digital transformation. Furthermore, she said Indosat appreciates the Ministry of Communication and Digital for organising the selection process for the two frequency bands. The company also respects the entire selection process and its provisions. “The difference in the resulting values is a consequence of the selection format and the electronic auction process applicable to all participants. We respect the results obtained by all participants and will follow the subsequent process in accordance with the applicable provisions,” she stated. Indosat believes that success is not solely measured by the value of the spectrum acquired, but also by the ability to optimise the spectrum through quality network development, efficient utilisation, service innovation, and the best experience for customers. In the frequency auction, Indosat obtained a 2x10 MHz block in the 700 MHz band for IDR 507.48 billion. In the 2.6 GHz band, Indosat secured 60 MHz for IDR 372 billion.
