Las Vegas (ANTARA) - President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha, stated that his company targets the use of 25,000 artificial intelligence (AI) agents, directly led by 5,000 employees, to drive productivity.

In an exclusive interview with the media on the sidelines of Google Cloud Next 2026 in Las Vegas, United States, on Wednesday (22/4) local time, Vikram said that this step is part of the AI North Star vision to transform the company’s identity into an AI-Native TechCo.

“When I look at 2028, Indosat will have around 5,000 employees and 25,000 AI agents. This is how we envision the future. There will be growth in the number of employees, but the multiple growth will occur in the number of agents,” said Vikram.

IOH has also established close collaboration with Google Cloud, including on the open-source Sahabat-AI platform to understand the social, cultural, and local language context in Indonesia.

Although relying on AI to achieve ambitious targets by transforming from a conventional telecommunications company into an AI-Native TechCo, Vikram said that digital talent is increasingly needed. The presence of AI is not to replace employee positions, but to empower them.

Vikram emphasised that by 2028, it will not be AI agents directing humans, but humans instructing AI agents on what to do to make them more productive. The AI agents, he said, will be treated equally to employees in terms of supervision to ensure the machines adhere to security boundaries to prevent data breaches.

“What is important is that employees will lead; agents will not lead employees. Employees will hold the reins, not just as a complement. Our reference architecture is ready for an agent-based system,” said Vikram.
