Indosat Launches 5G in Bali and Lombok to Ease Content Creation While on Holiday

PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has launched Indosat 5G for the Bali and Lombok regions. Fahd Yudhanegoro, EVP Head of Circle Java at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said Bali and Nusa Tenggara, particularly Lombok, have distinctive digital characteristics.

He noted the presence of digital nomads who need to remain productive wherever they happen to be, including whilst on holiday.

“Tourists who want to seek and share new experiences through live streaming, as well as people who are increasingly active in enjoying entertainment and creating content. We want Indosat 5G to be close to that digital rhythm, not just as a technological innovation, but also to accompany the fun of our customers’ everyday digital lives,” said Fahd at the Indosat 5G Bali-Lombok Media Update in Denpasar on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

That experience was demonstrated live when connecting with Indosat representatives in Gili Trawangan, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The use of 5G felt remarkably fast when communicating online.

Juliandi George Fransiskus, SVP Head of Region Bali-Nusra at Indosat, said Indosat is rolling out a wider 5G network to make internet access easier and more comfortable.

According to him, the internet is now embedded in people’s daily activities, such as creating content, searching for information and broadcasting live.

“Going forward, in my view, 5G should spread even wider, not only in Bali and Lombok, but perhaps later across East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and the rest of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). That is the next challenge,” explained Juliandi.

Juliandi added that the arrival of Indosat 5G is based on increasing user data traffic. In Bali, he noted a fairly high proportion of users are foreign tourists.

“Because we also see tourists increasingly using our services, and it’s most visible at the international airports, where most of them buy our SIM cards. Growth has been in double digits for tourists,” he revealed.

He claimed Indosat can provide ease and comfort of access for foreign tourists. “But the growth comparison is quite significant. So in my view, it should not be underestimated,” concluded Juliandi.
