Indosat clarifies

We refer to the letter by Mr. Rudy D. Wiranto in Neraca of
Dec. 20, 1994 issue concerning the laser beam display on the
Indosat building. We would like to give the following
explanations.

* The installment of the decorative laser beam is Indosat's
contribution to the beautification effort of the capital city of
Jakarta.

* The laser beam is turned on in connection to the observance
of the 49th anniversary of the Independence Day (last August) of
the republic and other important events including the anniversary
of Tourism and Post and Telecommunication, and the APEC meeting,
and it is also aimed to welcome the coming New Year.

We fully agree with Mr. Rudy concerning the importance of
saving energy. That's why the laser beam is only turned on for
special occasions from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
