Huawei and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) have strengthened their strategic partnership to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based connectivity in Indonesia. The collaboration aims to deliver smarter, simpler, and more responsive communication experiences and digital services.

The partnership was marked by the launch of the Agentic Technology Partnership, which combines Indosat’s 5G capabilities with Huawei’s AI and intelligent network technologies. Through this partnership, the two companies are introducing AI-based capabilities for mobile communications and intent-driven AI-powered Cloud storage.

This collaboration is also part of Indosat’s transformation towards becoming an AI-Native Telco. Previously, Indosat and Huawei had expanded their collaboration in the 5G and AI fields, including through Agentic RAN technology.

Director and Chief Technology Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Desmond Cheung, said that AI development should not only be measured by the sophistication of its technology, but also by the benefits it can provide to society in everyday life. “Our ambition is to make AI more accessible through the connectivity that people already use every day, from helping them communicate more easily to overcoming language barriers. Through our partnership with Huawei, we are taking an important step to make the benefits of AI felt by more Indonesians,” Cheung said at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

Chairman of the Board of Huawei Indonesia, Xin Dajiang, assessed that the Agentic Network concept is not merely technology but a picture of the future direction of network and digital service development. “Agentic Network is not just a technological concept. It represents the direction we are developing together with IOH. In this future, networks will become increasingly intelligent, services will become increasingly proactive, and the ecosystem will become increasingly open,” Xin said.

He stated that Huawei is committed to supporting IOH’s transformation into a leading AI-based technology company by leveraging Huawei’s expertise in connectivity, cloud infrastructure, and AI. “We are proud to partner with IOH in this Agentic Technology initiative. By leveraging our expertise in connectivity, cloud infrastructure, and AI, Huawei is dedicated to supporting IOH’s transformation into an innovative AI-based technology company,” Xin said.

In its implementation, the Indosat and Huawei partnership was introduced through two main solutions: AI New Calling and Intelligent and Intent-Driven Cloud Drive. AI New Calling is designed to bring AI capabilities directly into the voice calling experience.

One of the features offered is AI Noise-Reduction Calling. This technology uses two-way AI-based noise cancellation to eliminate background sounds from both sides of the conversation. As a result, voices remain clear even when users are in very noisy environments.

The next feature is Real-Time Call Translation, which allows users to obtain AI-based translations directly during calls. Translations can be provided in the form of voice or subtitles, helping to overcome language barriers in communication.
