Jakarta - The number of unemployed people in Indonesia fell to 7.22 million in May 2026, a decrease of 24,000 compared to February 2026, according to the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

M. Edy Mahmud, Deputy for Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis at BPS, stated that the total labour force in May 2026 reached 155.41 million, an increase of 497,000 from February 2026. The open unemployment rate (TPT) stood at 4.65%, down 0.03 percentage points from the previous survey period.

The number of employed people rose by 522,000 to 148.19 million. Within this group, full-time workers increased by 391,000 to 98.98 million, while part-time workers grew by 71,000 to 38.41 million. The number of underemployed workers—those working less than 35 hours per week—rose by 59,000 to 10.78 million.
