Indonesia's struggle
Indonesia's struggle
From Tiras
In a TV interview, a national figure said that there was a
difference between Indonesia's struggle during colonial times and
during the independence period. During the colonial period we
fought against the colonial government with the objective of
freeing Indonesia from the shackles of colonialism. But nowadays
we struggle for the interest of Indonesia.
Three factors are required to form a state: government, people
and territory. So if we struggle for the interest of our state,
there should be some consequences.
We must fight for the government of Indonesia. We have the
responsibility to give full support to the government's policies,
as long as they do not deviate from the state philosophy and the
1945 Constitution.
Second, we struggle for the sake of the Indonesian people as a
whole and to maintain Pancasila democracy.
Third, we struggle for the integrity of our territory. And to
this end the development should cover the whole territory of the
republic.
In this case the government should give facilities to
entrepreneurs interested in developing certain parts of the
country. The fact that the Indonesian people are pluralistic in
nature should not become an obstacle to carry out overall
development which will improve the welfare of the people. We
agree to be different but whatever the differences are we must
pursue the common goal: unity and integrity of the people.
