Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia’s smartphone import value rose again in 2025. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in the 2026 edition of Statistik Indonesia, the value of smartphone imports under the CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) arrangement reached US$2.98 billion in 2025, or around Rp 48.8 trillion (US$1 = Rp 16,900). This figure marks a sharp rise from US$1.94 billion in 2024. Compared with 2022’s US$724.77 million, the value has more than tripled.

Imports have surged since 2023. After dipping to US$724.8 million in 2022, smartphone imports rose drastically in 2023 to US$1.97 billion, up almost 172% year on year. The trend continued in 2024 at a high level of US$1.94 billion before climbing sharply again in 2025 to US$2.98 billion. The 2025 surge was the largest in five years, rising about 53.2% against 2024. Compared with the 2022 low, smartphone imports in 2025 were up around 311%, more than four times higher in three years.

China, the United States, and Hong Kong Dominate as Three Largest Suppliers. In terms of origin, the top three smartphone exporters to Indonesia in 2025 were China, the United States, and Hong Kong. China remains the dominant player. The value of imports from the country reached US$2.97 billion in 2025, up significantly from US$1.94 billion in 2024. Since 2023, China’s contribution has continued to dominate Indonesia’s smartphone import structure. China supplied 99% of Indonesia’s smartphone imports. Besides importing a range of smartphones manufactured in China such as Huawei and Xiaomi, Indonesia also imports iPhones from China; most iPhones are produced or assembled in China before being shipped to various destinations, including Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong ranked third with imports valued at US$278.3 million in 2025. Although still sizable, its value declined from US$410.1 million in 2023 and US$339.5 million in 2024.
