Indonesia's Prabowo joins rulers of seven emirates in Abu Dhabi
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta on Friday, noted that President Prabowo was accorded the honor of being seated among the seven Emirati leaders at the palace on Thursday (Feb. 26), a gathering that typically occurs only once a year.
The rulers present included President MBZ as Emir of Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Emir of Dubai, and the emirs of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.
Wijaya informed that the agenda included a communal iftar, or breaking of the fast, followed by Maghrib prayers attended by delegations from both countries.
Afterward, Presidents Prabowo and MBZ held a one-on-one meeting lasting more than an hour, during which they discussed strategic issues ranging from energy cooperation and future economic partnerships to investment opportunities in Indonesia.
The high-level dialogue reflected both nations’ commitment to deepening collaboration in pursuit of mutual and lasting benefits.
The presidential meeting also coincided with Indonesia and the UAE marking five decades of diplomatic relations this year, opening further avenues for broader strategic cooperation that delivers tangible outcomes for their peoples.
Apart from Secretary Wijaya, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha.
Meanwhile, the MBZ delegation included Energy and Infrastructure Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdullah Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri, along with other senior officials.
